The following are suggestions of areas of interest for stories we’re looking for in GenTales. You can still submit other topics, especially on how to research a lineage, but I hope this list will provide some inspiration.

Not yet a writer for GenTales? Stop by the submission guidelines and leave a note to be added!

What I’d love to read:

  • How you or someone you know found their biological family or updated your family tree
  • Surprises that came from genetic testing
  • Tips or hints on researching an adoption or databases important or someone who was adopted and looking for clues
  • Family mysteries (for example: unsolved deaths, disappearances, strange splits or crossovers in the family tree, espionage and subterfuge, illegitimate royalty)

What we don’t want to read:

  • Political commentaries (there are other pubs for this)
  • Memoirs or personal essays (the focus should be on the genealogy/lineage research)

All submissions should follow the general submission guidelines of both Medium and GenTales, focusing on lineage research and genealogy or family stories (i.e., interconnectedness).
